Here at Geek Freaks, we look forward to sharing Blizzcon with you all year long. With events being cancelled consistently due to COVID-19, we have been keeping an eye on Blizzard and waiting to either book our rooms or make plans for alternate events. Today Blizzard has announced that Blizzcon is going forward as planned but cautioned everyone that if the virus is still a concern towards November, they will cancel everything.
“While we’re all hopeful things will look better later in the year, the bottom line is that at this point it’s too early to know whether BlizzCon 2020 will be feasible. The health of our community, employees, and everyone who helps with the show is our top consideration. It might be a few months before we know for certain if or how we’ll proceed, but as soon as we have a meaningful update, we’ll share it.”Saralyn Smith- Executive Producer of BlizzCon
The statement further conveys their commitment for safety and their love for BlizzCon. You can find the complete statement here. Based on the information we have currently, things will continue as planned but by early Fall or late Summer Blizzard may need to reassess the situation. Blizzard has only skipped one BlizzCon (in 2005) and brings together roughly 40,000 fans.
